Diagnosis: Comminuted Fracture Of The Tibia And Fibula

Approximately 6 months ago, the patient was admitted into the hospital with comminuted fracture of the tibia and fibula, on which surgery was performed (reduction and external fixation).

After 6 months he comes back to the Emergency Room, presenting deformity, inflammation, swelling, pain and one canal with drainage.

Clinical Presentation

Samples were harvested from the wound to asses the type of germs that caused the infection.
Result: Staphylococcus epidermidis

Chronology of Treatment

Day 1 — Surgery
  • Second surgery was performed with reduction and internal fixation.
  • Debridement of necrotic / devitalized tissue was performed;
  • 2-3 mm thickness of the product was applied inside the wound;
Day 2 — Day 7

Mirragen was applied daily for the first 3 days and once every 2 days for the remaining 4 days.

Check-Out Instructions:

  • Sterile bandage changed every day;
  • Sutures removed after 7 days;
