The Mirragen Wound Matrix is intended for use in the management of wounds. Wound types include: Partial and full-thickness wounds, pressure ulcers, venous ulcers, diabetic ulcers, chronic vascular ulcers, tunneled/undermined wounds, surgical wounds (donor sites/grafts, post-Moh's surgery, post laser surgery, podiatric, wound dehiscence), trauma wounds (abrasions, lacerations, first and second degree burns, skin tears) and draining wounds.
Opening the Dressing The Mirragen
Advanced Wound Matrix is sterile packed in a two-piece thermoformed tray placed inside foil pouch. The interior of the foil pouch and the inner tray are sterile. Use aseptic technique to transfer the tray to the sterile field.
Mirragen Technique Guide
Step 1.
Remove the foil pouch from the unit box. Locate the tear notch at the top of the pouch. Tear open pouch at tear notch.
Step 2.
Remove the tray from the foil pouch (note: tray and enclosed dressing are sterile).
Step 3.
Remove tray lid to expose the dressing.

Prior to application of Mirragen Advanced Wound Matrix to a wound, clean the wound area with an appropriate wound cleanser.
If necessary, any non-viable tissue may be removed by normal wound debridement practices.
Dry the area surrounding the wound. If required, a skin protectant may be applied at the wound care provider's discretion.
Using scissors or by-hand, shape the Mirragen Advanced Wound Matrix dressing to fit the size of the wound bed. Place the dressing directly in contact with the wound ensuring the entire wound area and wound margins are covered. The dressing may overlap the surrounding skin.
If applying Mirragen Advanced Wound Matrix to a dry wound, moisten the dressing with sterile saline to aid in maintaining a moist wound environment.
Once the Mirragen Advanced Wound Matrix is applied, a secondary cover dressing must be applied to manage the wound environment and protect the wound area. The secondary dressing should completely cover the Mirragen dressing. Once properly placed, secure the secondary dressing with tape, transparent film, or other means. [Note: Selection of the cover dressing may vary with the wetness of the wound and wound location. See individual cover dressing package inserts for complete instruction for use.]
The wound should be inspected at the frequency suggested by a wound care professional. The Mirragen Advanced Wound Matrix is suggested to be changed every 3 to 7 days, but the frequency will vary based on several factors including wound moisture content/leakage, bleeding, wound location, wound size/depth, and frequency of treatment, to name a few.
Dressing changes are conducted according to standard wound care practices.
Remove the secondary dressing and associated fixation materials. Expose the underlying wound covered with the Mirragen dressing.
Important Note: As healing progress, new tissue may grow into the Mirragen Advanced Wound Matrix. Do not forcibly remove or debride areas of the Mirragen dressing that are embedded or adhered to the wound site. The Mirragen dressing is 100% bioabsorbable and will eventually be absorbed at the wound site.
Loose sections of the Mirragen Advanced Wound Matrix may be manually removed or rinsed off with sterile saline. Apply additional Mirragen dressing to fill and cover the wound. Moisten the dressing with sterile saline, as needed.
Similar to the initial application of the Mirragen™ Advanced Wound Matrix, place a new secondary dressing over the Mirragen dressing.
